picasaView: Suddenly all thumbnails are showing up in original size?

Posted by at 19:50 ...

Some people suddenly were confronted with the problem that all thumbnails in an album detail view are showing up in original size. First I though Google did change something in their API, but it seems it’s a bug they published with their new API version. See this post:

Thanks for pointing this out. It looks like we pushed a bug, and we’re
working to correct the problem.
I’ll update this thread when the change is live. I’m sorry for the
inconvenience that this is causing.

Thank you,
-Mike

So it seems we have to wait until this bug gets fixed – hopefully soon, I’m sorry for that.

picasaView 1.1.3 released

Posted by at 12:28 ...

It’s just a minor release, fixing a small bug with a template variable, adding some translations (thanks to the guys who contributed) and changing the html into a table less layout.

picasaView version 1.1 released

Posted by at 19:31 ...

It took some time, but finally here it is – version 1.1 of picasaView. Besides mandatory bugfixes I switched to WordPress own shortcode-API which should make the whole thing more compatible, and to WordPress’ URL-API so there is no more need to select the connection type for yourself. But please do take a look at the history page for a complete changelog. I hope, you like it!

picasaView version 1.0 released

Posted by at 12:53 ...

After a long time I finally released version 1.0 of picasaView. The code was completely rewritten to feature more flexibility for future versions. Besides some bugfixes, albums can now be shown directly with the “instantView”-option and nearly all settings of the admin-options page can be overwritten directly in the tag. That means, you can have multiple picasaView-tags on your blog (and even in the same post) with completely different settings in image size, server or user-id (and some more). See the readme.txt for more details.

If you find any bugs or have tips for improvement, please drop me a line!

New release is on the way

Posted by at 22:52 ...

After a long time without any updates I just wanted to post a little life-sign. I’m still there! The next version is due (needs some testing before – if you’re interested, please contact me) and has some new features like instantView (directly print images of an album in a post) and way more flexibility in integration – this means you will be able to overwrite all default settings on each picasaView-call. So you can view multiple albums of different users with different settings in your blog. So please be patient for a few more days (I’m a little bit lazy I admit…)!

And thank you for all your feedback so far!

Version 0.71 of picasaView released

Posted by at 16:53 ...

Happy New Year everyone!

Today I released a minor update of the picasaView plugin, which should work properly in WordPress 2.7 again (and also in previous versions of course). The version 0.7 had some problems within the admin area so that the settings were not saved anymore. If you still have problems (I couldn’t test it against MU installations), don’t hesitate to contact me.

Important note: I had to change the way the picasaView-settings are saved. This means you have to specify them again to make the plugin work properly. Sorry for that :-(

Version 0.7 of picasaView released

Posted by at 11:55 ...

Since the recent release I got many feedback (some bug reports, too) and some nice improvements. Thanks to all of you – I really appreciate your feedback on picasaView.

Hence today the new version 0.7 is released and it features some new things and some bug fixes (hopefully). The socket connection has been improved, it’s now possible to use more than one user-Id and the admin-panel offers some new options (including quick paging with nice transition effects). Please give it a try and tell me your opinions.

If you upgrade from a previous version, please keep the following things in mind:

  1. If you customized the picasaview-templates and/or stylesheet: they were moved. They should now reside within the currently used theme dir in a subdirectory named “picasaview” (e.g. /wp-content/themes/default/picasaview).
  2. If you customized the picasaview-templates I strongly encourage you to use the default templates as a new start as some things have been changed (especially the css class names)
  3. Please take a look at the new admin-options and try out the new quick paging. I’m sure you like it ;-)

A complete list of changes can be found in the history.

Version 0.6 of picasaView released

Posted by at 10:39 ...

Since today the recent version 0.6 of the picasaView WordPress plugin is available for download. With picasaView you can easily view your photos from picasaweb directly in your blog. In version 0.6 it’s now possible to enable paging for your album details view, so that not all images are shown at one page. Some more detailed error messages tell you now more exactly what went wrong. Also some more placeholders were added for customization (like a “back to page”-link or image titles). So please give it a try and tell me if you like it or not.

Version 0.5 of picasaView released

Posted by at 15:19 ...

Only two days after the inital release the first update of picasaView comes along. If your WordPress installation is on a server with no CURL and disabled remote access for the PHP function file_get_contents() it’s now possible to connect to picasaweb throught sockets. This should work in most cases. If that’s also disabled you really should consider changing your provider ;-)

The admin backend is now telling which connection settings are possible and more exact error messages were given in case of a problem.

Of couse there are still many things missing. The two biggest things are paging in the album detail view and the inclusion of single images instead of an whole album. So stay tuned!

WordPress-Plugin “picasaView”

Posted by at 20:40 ...
