With picasaView you can easily view your picasaweb-albums in your WordPress blog. To achieve this, all you need to do is to insert a placeholder like:
[picasaview album='ALBUMNAME']
or
[picasaview album='ALBUMNAME' instantview='yes']
(to view all images instantly)
in your content where you want your album to appear. To view all your public albums just use:
[picasaview]
It’s now possible to view non-albums, but in this version only when viewing an album directly. It will not work when viewing all albums (not yet). Just use the tag like this (the token is generated by picasaweb, so you have to look there):
[picasaview album='ALBUMNAME' authkey='AUTHTOKEN']
The plugin supports localization, paging and its look can be easily customized by changing the external templates and the stylesheet which reside within the plugin directory in the subfolder templates. That means you could use Lightbox or any other image viewer by simply editing the html-templates to suit your needs, for example to work with Rupert Morris’ excellent Lightbox2 Plugin.
Through the backend settings you can additionally adjust the size of the used thumbnails and full size pictures as well as how much images should be shown on a page. Nearly each default setting on the settings page can be overwritten in the tag. So it’s possible to view different albums from different users in different sizes on your blog.
Please refer to the readme.txt for more detailed customization information.

Is your WordPress installation running on PHP5? If not, the plugin won’t work. If you are running PHP5 then try re-installing it, maybe something went wrong during the installation process.

Hey!
Basanta

Hi, I’m liking your plugin so far, good job! Unfortunately, I can’t seem to call the shortcode from within wordpress with “do_shortcode(‘[picasaView]‘)”. Any help or information would be really appreciated, and thanks for your time.

Hi,
I am using PicasaView to place al my picasa images on my website. It’s a beautiful solution. The only thing i really miss is the possibility to show the dates of albums and/or photos. I have checked and the date is shown in the rss feed.
Can this be fixed and how. Is there a simple hack?
Thanks

Hi,
The galleries work fine but I can’t get it to work with lightbox2/slimbox. The images just get viewed. It also breaks the slimbox/lightbox of my other pages when activated (if it’s not on, lightbox works fine). I’m using the wordpress plugins version of lightbox2/slimbox, by the way. Any help?
Thanks!

Hi,
i’m new with WordPress, and looking for a clear and beautiful plugin to embed my picasa galleries.
Yours look quite perfect…
Except that, once installed on my local mamp server ( mac, with apache and php 5 ), i can’t get the same result as your demo.
The gallery is loading, and i have the images. But they all appears in only 1 column. And a clic on image doesn’t display the clean pop-up. It just opens a new ugly white page with the image.
I guess this is an additional plugin, or something i didn’t activated.
( sorry for my english).
One again, quite usefull and simple plugin
Thanks.

Hi Again. It’s now ok for the classy popup. Just installed LightBox2.
But i still got all images in only 1 column. And the ‘Next’ link on the main article page isn’t viewable entirely ( the one used to navigate in gallery where there is moto images then the max allowed per page). Seems like the detailed Gallery is too wide.
I’m currently using the LightWord theme.

Damn, it’s late, and it seems like my eye are no more facing their holes.
i meant : “the one used to navigate in the gallery when there is more image than the max allowed per page”.
Sorry… time to sleep

The instantView is giving me trouble: if I just type instantView nothing happens but when I enter instantView=’yes’ as it says in the readme, I get a bad request from Google.
Any idea?

Hi,
Love the plugin, but I’m having trouble with InstantView. For some reason it’s simply not doing anything. Someone else on here mentioned the option is actually InstantView=’yes’, but that’s not working either. Any info?

Hello,
I have a problem with the plugin since yesterday evening.
I get the following error: “picasaView plugin: Could not load data from picasaweb”
I have nothing changed on http://picasaweb.google.fr/ and I have the right settings in the plugin options in the dashboard of WordPress. I tried to deactivate and activate the plugin in WP but still the same error message.
Have an idea you could suggest?
Thank you for your help.

As Simon said, there was a “” tag in the source code of the page and this cause view on one column.
I don’t know how that tag was there, anyway deleted it from html source, all works perfectly, now.
I use last version of both WP and PicasaView.
Thanks Simon for your great support and my wishes for your marriage

I have the same Problem with the “one columm” view.. I just can’t find the error in the source oO
Oh and btw.. You should really implant some wrapping, on the Album view. Cuz it sucks if you cant read the Description because its halfway under the Sidebar

Keichi, well it heavily depends on the site layout, that’s why I made it template based so it can be fully customized. What layout do you use?

Hi, great job Simon!
But i have exactly the same problem that Basanta, so is:
“The instantView is giving me trouble: if I just type instantView nothing happens but when I enter instantView=’yes’ as it says in the readme, I get a bad request from Google.”
Do you know how to resolve this issue?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks Simon, as you say in the email you wrote me, the solution is in the name of the album, I put the whole name of the album (this without the instantwiew option runs correctly) but its better and necessary “to use the shortened name that picasa generates for your album, not the original one. You can see it when click on an album on picasaweb and look at the url,”
So is:
[picasaView album="NameOfTheAlbum" instantView='yes']
instead of:
[picasaView album="Name Of The Album" instantView='yes']
Thanks!

First, Buslain: the userid is the id you have a Picasa, you can find it in the link to your albums, in the URL is your usename.
MY QUESTION: why can’t i search the text on my page from this album overview ? http://rcheli.dk/pictures2/ it would be very nice if i could search for the album texst on the album overview !!! i don’t get why it is not working ??

I guess it’s because the content gets rendered at runtime. When you open a page with the albums on it the images and the text is fetched from google, it’s not saved within WordPress somewhere. I’ll take it on the list for the next update. Maybe you can get it working with a Cache-Plugin for WordPress if you can’t wait (and it can last a little bit, cause I’m moving right now).

Why does my plugin picasweb album not look like yours. If I downloaded it. I don’t have the option of framing my pictures when they are seleted or going through them as they are enlarged. I hate that the gallery doesn’t display from teh beggining and that i have to click on a link to open it. I like it but if you can make the above changes I would appreciate it.

Are you possibly willing to allow a setting for viewing the albums to display in rows so that a simple grid of images can be viewed rather then images just squeezed in where they fit? Other then that this is the best plugin I have found.

Hi, I’ve been trying to show the instant view thumbnails in 160 cropped, but it keeps bringing 72px non cropped thumbnails. in album view the main thumb is cropped but the other ones aren’t. the -c does not print in img tag, neither the specified img size s160. how did you manage to do it with your own album? thanks!

[answered by mail]: If you did not enable cropping by default in the settings, a typical call could look like this:
[picasaView album='Hamburg2009' instantView='yes' cropThumbnails='yes']

[answered by mail]: Did you try modifying the templates (see the readme.txt for instructions) to change the appearance of the album list? You have all options in html and css to style it the way you want with the templates. Or what exactly are you trying to do if this doesn’t help?

Hi. I looked at every Picasa plugin… I like this the best. Very nice. Thank you.
Couple questions:
I would like to be able to create a gallery of images based on “tags” irrespective of their album. For example any image tagged “abc” in any of the albums “def” or “xyz”. Does this work?
Also, is there a way to have the full set of images open in a child page instead of an expanded main page? For example, when you clicked the image instead of showing on the same page, the gallery iof images opens on its own child page.
Thanks again. I looked at 79 Picasa plugins. Nice work here.

Your plugin looks like a great solution, but I can only link to all of my Picasa albums by adding [picasaView]; when I try to link to a single album by adding the name of the album like this: [picasaView album='ALBUMNAME']I get an error that says “picasaView plugin: there are no albums available for this user in picasaweb” when I view the published page. If you have a few minutes to help me troubleshoot I would appreciate it.
